  •  Hi Kathi --
Just starting to learn more about Local Foods myself, but basically it's trying to focus on preparing and eating foods that are grown locally, so that foods can mature longer on the plant, becoming more healthful & flavorful. There's an emphasis on heirloom varieties (more flavorful), and eating things in their season. There's an organization called Slow Food, which kinda leads the effort. I am currently reading Animal, Vegitable, Miracle which expands on appreciating local foods.

  •  Hi Kathi! Thanks for the warm welcome! I actually take lessons in Monck's Corner right now. I am going to try to get my instructor to come to a meetup some time. She has recently moved back to Charleston. By the way, which Andolini's are we meeting at? I am going to bring another lady with me. Thanks!

  •  Hi Kathi. I'm actually from Charleston, just most of my friends are married with kids and live out towards Summerville. It makes it harder to find time to get together.

  •  Hi Kathi. Thanks for the welcome. I live in West Ashley so places that come to mind are The Blue Rose, the Glass Onion, Triangle (outdoor seating too), Sunflower Cafe. I am up for traveling too, I really like 5 Loaves and Sesame and will try an other spots others may like. I am away the week of June 7th, but am usually available for lunch, especially on Fridays. I would love to get together!

  •  Hey cool! I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone. I don't know if I'll make it Friday or not- I teach ballroom dance weeknights Monday through Friday.
Hey what made you leave Texas? :)

  •  Hey, Plattsburg is nice, but cold! I went to school in the North country, at Canton. The weather here is awesome, even with the humidity!

  •  Kathi, Welcome to Charleston and I hope you have discovered the Park Circle area where we plan to meet. Ask around, it's a nice, safe area with a variety of eateries and shops. Bring your camera.
