Hello all

After reading various forums in meetup I came to a strange conclusion: We need clear, stated policies.

Well, this it:

• Anyone can come in and participate, no change.
  
• There is no fee to join this meetup group. *
  
• Anyone who does not participate within five months anywhere in meetup will be dropped systematically.
  
• To be added if ever needed but I do not see the point.
  

We currently have a membership of 131 persons (06/2008). About 15% are more or less active, 5 % have become regulars. These low % numbers are normal when dealing with an open, no fee, meetup.

Our membership is down as I eliminate all meetup members who have not been active within meetup.com for the last six months. It will shrink even further when I lower the limit to 5 months (long term goal is 3 months, in line with meetup.com *considered an inactive member* flag). I have also noted a trend of folks joining for a few weeks then moving out. I have never seen these folks and wonder why they are leaving; it does not really matter as none has participated to anything in between.

We are a low key group, and I will not apply pressure to force participation whatever the circumstances. This is a legacy from the original founder Bob M. and I'll keep it that way.
